EPRI GIC RF Monitor

Geomagnetically Induced Current (GIC) RF Monitor: This RF monitor measures a.c. and d.c. currents flowing in energized / deenergized conductors. Two different designs exist, one for rigid bus up to 10” in diameter, and one for conductors up to 2.5” in diameter. On-board algorithms also provide an analysis of the harmonics (up to the 7^th). For energized conductor the GIC RF Monitor harvests power from the a.c. currents. For deenergized conductors either battery packs or solar panels are used depending on the required measurement rate.
