EPRI Surge Arrester RF Monitor

Surge Arrester RF Monitor: This task is developing an RF monitor to evaluate surge arresters. The RF monitor is installed on the energized side of the arrester, which precludes the need to insulate the arrester base. The RF monitor is utilized to identify high-risk arresters and provide an indication of remaining life. Presently, a laboratory prototype has been tested with further hardware and algorithm developments required before a field demonstration.
